Real Madrid 4-0 Espanyol

Real Madrid won their 35th LaLiga title on Saturday, thanks to two first-half goals from Rodrygo, who led them to a 4-0 home victory over mid-table Espanyol.

With the victory, their Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti became the first manager in Europe's top five leagues (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France).

Real lead 2-0 at halftime thanks to Rodrygo's double, before Marco Asensio added a third after 55 minutes and LaLiga top scorer Karim Benzema secured the win in the 81st minute.

With Real facing Manchester City in their Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday, captain Benzema won the trophy after coming off the bench late in the second half as Ancelotti rested several regular starters.

With four games remaining, Real has 81 points. With over a month left in the season, they are 17 points ahead of second-placed Sevilla and 18 points ahead of Barcelona, who have a game in hand. They needed a point against Espanyol to clinch the title.

Marcelo set a new club record by winning his 24th trophy with Real, passing Gento as the player with the most trophy wins in the club's 120-year history.

Athletic 2-0 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid's chances of finishing in the top four were dealt another damage as they were defeated 2-0 by Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic Club justifiably took the lead after just eight minutes, despite the fact that the goal came through fortuitous circumstances, with Inaki Williams' shot taking a nasty deflection off Mario Hermoso, leaving Jan Oblak helpless.

Inaki Williams came agonizingly close to scoring when his wicked cross cannoned off the post, but the visitors looked disjointed in the early stages and almost fell further down.

As Atleti grew into the game, Diego Simeone changed the formation in response to his team's disastrous start, switching to a back four. In the 43rd minute, Antoine Griezmann had their first attempt on target, a weak header, and Yannick Carrasco came close after a lung-busting run.

With a fantastic free-kick that rattled the crossbar shortly after the restart, Griezmann's wait for his first league goal since November came to an end.

When Renan Lodi's sloppy pass was intercepted by Iker Muniain, who drew a foul from Hector Herrera, and Inaki Williams calmly dispatched a Panenka penalty past Oblak, Atleti had a mountain to climb.

Barcelona 2-1 Mallorca

Barcelona won a relatively overwhelming 2-1 victory over Mallorca on Sunday night, putting an unfavorable record behind them and regaining the upper hand in the fight for La Liga runner-up.

La Blaugrana leapfrogged Sevilla back into second place with their second win in four league games, and ended an unparalleled sequence of three successive defeats at the Camp Nou in a single season.

Memphis Depay and Sergio Busquets scored either side of halftime to give Barça a much-needed victory, with a more recognizably free-flowing and incisive type of play alleviating the frustration caused by recent form.

Xavi Hernandez's side got off to a strong start and, lacking the nervousness that has crept into recent games, were well worth their 25th-minute lead.

Within five minutes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forced Sergio Rico into a superb save with a close-range headed effort, and Ronald Araujo had a goal disallowed for offside in the 23rd minute, Depay snatched a well-deserved opener by clinically lashing the ball into the back of the net after racing onto Jordi Alba's fantastic ball over the top.
