Everton 1-0 Manchester United

Everton earned an important win in their fight against relegation against Manchester United thanks to a deflected Anthony Gordon goal in the first half.

The Toffees outworked and out-hustled a mediocre Manchester United team, who once again underwhelmed as their ambitions of finishing in the top four were dashed.

Everton had a number of standout performers, including goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Fabian Delph. Gordon was also a standout performer, scoring the game's winning goal after a deflected effort from beyond the area hit Man United defender Harry Maguire, leaving goalkeeper David de Gea isolated.

Everton now have a four-point lead over Burnley in 18th position, although the Clarets have a game in hand and face bottom-placed Norwich City on Sunday. For the time being, Everton supporters may rejoice at their club's second win in eight league games.

Southampton 0-6 Chelsea

The Saints welcomed the Blues to St Mary's for their third encounter of the season. Chelsea won the league match 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in October, before defeating Southampton on penalties in the Carabao Cup after the game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Chelsea were coming off back-to-back defeats since the international break, having lost 4-1 at home to Brentford last weekend and then 3-1 against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night. Southampton were looking for their first win in the league since February 25, having taken just one point from the last 12 available.

Takumi Minamino gave Saints the lead in their last meeting at St Mary's in February 2021, but Mason Mount scored from the penalty spot to level the score.

However, the story was very different this afternoon (Saturday), as Chelsea proved to be far too strong for Hasenhuttl's Saints.

Arsenal 1-2 Brighton

Arsenal lost ground in the race for a place in the Champions League after losing to Brighton at home in the Premier League.

Leandro Trossard of Brighton made Arsenal pay for a sluggish start by scoring the game's first goal in the 28th minute, converting Enock Mwepu's cut-back. Just before half-time, Gabriel Martinelli thought he had equalized, but VAR ruled him offside. Arsenal would have won the game with a goal at that moment, but they were still being bothered by Brighton.

Mwepu scored the visitors' second goal in the 67th minute after a great move by newcomer Moises Caicedo. With a long-range shot in the 89th minute, Martin Odegaard brought Arsenal back into the game, and they pressed hard in stoppage time, but it wasn't their day, and Brighton took all three points.

The Gunners have now lost three of their past four games, putting Tottenham in a commanding position for fourth place. Following this fantastic win, Brighton are now in 11th place in the table.

Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

We won 4-0 at Villa Park on Saturday evening, strengthening our position in the Premier League's top four. Heung-Min Son scored a brilliant hat-trick.

But, while Son's goals will grab the headlines, we owe Hugo Lloris a debt of gratitude for some outstanding stops during a first half in which Aston Villa produced a plethora of chances and were unlucky not to equalize following Son's third-minute opener.

After the break, however, it was a different story, as we scored early again through Dejan Kulusevski and went on to take control. In the 66th minute, Son added his second goal after grabbing onto Harry Kane's beautiful headed ball and beating Emiliano Martinez. Five minutes later, Son completed his triple after being set up by Kulusevski. Son's goal was his 17th in the Premier League this season.

This was the ideal outcome after Arsenal's home defeat to Brighton earlier in the day, and it helped us maintain fourth place in the table with seven games remaining.
