Sampdoria 0-1 AS Roma

Henrikh Mkhitaryan struck a first-half goal from close range to give Roma a crucial away win on Sunday.

In the 27th minute, Nicola Zalewski's left-wing pull back was intercepted by Morten Thorsby, but the ball fell into the path of Henrikh Mkhitaryan for a tap-in.

When Tammy Abraham chased down a Bartosz Bereszynski back-pass, he came close to adding a second goal for Roma, but his effort went into the side-netting.

Abdelhamid Sabiri of Sampdoria hit a shot straight at Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Fabio Quagliarella came close to netting a late equalizer, but his effort was diverted off Chris Smalling, leaving Patricio beaten.

Lorenzo Pellegrini was booked in stoppage time for time-wasting, which means he will miss the next match against Salernitana.

Juventus 0-1 Inter Milan

Inter kept their Serie A title aspirations alive with a 1-0 Derby d'Italia victory over Juventus.

Juventus dominated the first half for the most part, but Inter took the lead from the penalty spot right before halftime.

After a lengthy VAR check revealed little touch from Alvaro Morata on Denzel Dumfries, who fell to the ground holding his leg, the visitors were controversially awarded a spot kick.

Wojciech Szczesny saved Hakan Calhanoglu's penalty kick, and Adrien Rabiot fumbled the rebound into his own net after a flurry of players rushed to the loose ball.

The goal was subsequently disallowed due to a foul in the box, before VAR intervened again and ordered the penalty to be retaken due to Matthijs de Ligt's intrusion.

Calhanoglu made no mistake the second time around, blasting into the bottom left corner to give Inter a 1-0 lead at the break.

Dusan Vlahovic had a few chances to tie the game up, the greatest of which came just after the hour mark. The ball was knocked into his feet, but despite doing well to control it and clear space for a shoot, he was only able to direct his effort wide.

In the second half, Juventus pushed for an equalizer, but Inter held firm to secure a huge win and boost their position in the title battle.

AC Milan 0-0 Bologna

AC Milan drew 0-0 with Bologna at the Stadio San Siro on Monday night, disappointing Rossoneri fans after Napoli and Inter both won over the weekend.

After winning at Atalanta, Napoli, in second place, drew level on points with Milan at the top of the Serie A table, but Stefano Pioli's team are now the unchallenged leaders in the Italian top flight. Inter, on the other hand, won against Juventus, but they are currently four points behind their cross-city rivals.

Olivier Giroud's header was saved by Bologna shot-stopper Lukasz Skorupski in the first half at the San Siro on Monday night, and despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic's introduction in the second half, the Rossoneri were unable to break past the Rossoblu's defense.

Inter will face Hellas Verona on Saturday, Napoli will face Fiorentina on Sunday, while Torino will host Milan.
